We are hoping our parts arrive today to fix our traveler. Today is a little cooler than yesterday - temps. were in high 90's and no wind then big hot gusts of wind. I have been seriously teasing and bugging Tom to get us a window air conditioned to drop in our front hatch. So far he agrees with the need, but walking to the boat with an air conditioner hasn't been high on either of our to-do lists.
Yesterday I scrubbed out the cockpit - finally got rid of all the bug carcasses and it was a way to cool off. Later we enjoyed the air conditioned luxury of Monarch with Diane, Grant and Tim. She made us a wonderful chicken dinner and we shared Birthday cake with Tim.
We think we have finalized our plans for the Erie Canal part of our trip. We are going to go through the Welland Canal into Lake Ontario then down to Fair Point Marina to have our mast taken down and then shipped to Hop-a-nows. It will take the hassle and worry out of having 10' of mast sticking out off either end of our boat and make motoring the canal less bothersome. We have teamed up with another couple- Terry & Suzanne on Chasseur to share a truck. The cost is reasonable and if we find another boat or two the cost will decrease further.
Below are random photos not published that I thought I would share.
We are looking at the weather and if parts arrive we should be leaving tomorrow morning heading east and south. I am looking forward to traveling down the Detroit River.
Fair winds and a following sea.
