crossing to West End, Grand Bahama Island

Wednesday 2/25/15
we are finally cast off from Cooleys Landing and Fort Lauderdale. The new stack pack is installed, all batons in sail, Genset working, and the dozen of other things that we  (meaning Tom) fixed and there was a weather window to cross today.
Our new friends Denise and Julia helped to cast off lines, waved good by, got through all the bridges by 9:15 am
Our next blog will be from the islands

Finally got a photo of a manatee, drinking water from our fridge

Tom washed the deck this morning with the free water.
It is amazing the soot you get from all the engine powered boats around here

dear friends I will miss.... Till we meet again

Our stay at Cooleys Landing is coming to an end

Hello from COLD Florida,
I could not believe the weather report this morning said we have wind chill forecast for tonight, lows to 35... I am in Florida!! Took out the sweatpants and warm Uggs for the next two days.
Our Doyle stack pack finally arrived and Tom when up the mast several times getting it installed. We have been laying in supplies and only have a few errands to run and we would be all set to leave... But weather is not cooperating.I thought we would have a weather window on Monday, Tuesday but that looks like it went KaPutt with all this attic weather falling south. So fingers crossed we are ready to go to the Bahamas but looks like it may be another week before we can leave POOP
still knitting... have two matching sleeves for
a Fair Isle sweater for Jen

went to the Miami Boat show. The strictly sail portion
was a little disappointing, not very many vendors.
Electronics were well represented but no canvas, sails and other stuff
There were oodles of fishing and power boat vendors.
I did get some fishing bait.

New hair cut with a wonderful streak of purple.
Chris at Echo Salons was great... perfect cut for the tropics.
now I just have to get there

I set up our Go Pro on time lapse to try and film the Manatees that swim pass our
boat... I recorded over 4000 photos of the water behind our boat. While getting my
hair cut they visited the launch well and Tom got photos with his I phone

ready for a cold day

we had some exitiment Super Bowl sunday.  The Fort Lauderdale
dive time identified an abandoned Boat trailer at the end of the launch
ramp..(thank God that is all it was)

Fantastic meal with Joy and Tom Merritt at Taco Craft

We get many interesting boats launching from the
public rams here.

Mama Muscovy duck and her little ones. Sadly none of them
have survived their first weeks

we get dozens of parrors in the trees across the way. It sounds like
a convention of squeaky toys. Can you see the birds

Iguana on the dock

remember this is a 63' mast he is going up
