The day started off cool. I was in sweats and Tom was wearing his fleece. I heard on the radio that in the 1980's there was a 39 degree morning on this date. The sun soon warmed us up but the wind what little there was in the morning was cool. We cleared the Sugar Island and the wind started to pick up -by 1pm we had main and Jib out in 9+ kts of wind and were sailing at 5.5kts + - we decided to try for Harrisville harbor so there were several course changes. We also discovered Fish Traps and strange stacked out fishing buoys that had gallon plastic jugs strung out. Just missed those. Though they were gulls on the water until we were up too close.
We got to Harrisville and had a little excitement - this harbor is very shallow and we skidded over some rocks - center board still comes down - Tom may go for a swim just to check. Docking was not as smooth as it could have been. We ended up backing in and not by choice. When you don't want wind it seems to pop up at the wrong time.
We are safe for now - Great sailing and tomorrow heading south again.
