July 9th Mackinaw City to Roger City

Morning brought the task of cleaning us the little dead bodies of the may flies, Tom took the dingy into the marina to get a chart of lake Huron. Just felt better having one since neither of us have sailed these waters. It was a very bumpy ride as he crossed the paths of the ferries going to and coming from the Island. I stayed behind and tried to wash some of the little carcasses off. They really do stick to where every they landed. We pulled up anchor and had a good stiff breeze and sailed for about 3 hours before POOF - no wind.
We tried motor sailing but we would not get to Roger city until well after 9pm and that was not a good option. We pulled in the sail with reluctance and motored over halve the distance. We did cover 58 miles today. Roger City is a great layover. They have a car available to take you to get resupplied. The staff is very helpful and the marina is sheltered so we are not rocking or swaying. It will be a peaceful  night and maybe tomorrow we will get the 10 mph winds they predict.
