We got to Port Huron and it started to rain. It Rain Wednesday in the morning then hot and humid. We went for a walk around town. Bought work gloves for me to use in the canal then had a wonderful lunch at Sail Away. If your in town go there, great food and service.
Spent the rest of the day doing housekeeping.
Thursday woke to thunder and rain. It rain all day, really all day. We tried to do laundry at the marina but their dryer was broke. River Side Marina has a courtesy car and they will take you anywhere in Port Huron. they took me to a local laundry mat and I got the majority of our stuff done.
A word about River Side marina. If you boat - and you are stopping in Port Huron - it is the place to stay. The staff is great, the accommodations excellent. On a scale of 1 to 10 they are 10 ***.
We also met two other couples that are going through the Erie Canal about the same time as we are. One couple is going as far as Annapolis MD. They are bringing back a boat they bought in Northport Michigan.
The other couple is retired - like us - and headed for Bahamas. We all shared information on the Canal crossing.
