We started out about 9am our goal was Canajoharie NY. The first lock we were to traverse is 17.
Lock 17 replaced four locks on the Enlarged Erie Canal in 1916. The world's highest single lift lock at the time, it raised boats 40.5 feet. Going into it is deceiving then down and down you go. The Lock gate on the other end lifts and I ran to the back of the boat to avoid the shower. We went through locks 16 and 15 before we arrive at Canajoharie and a visit to the Arkell museum
