Down to our first lock in the Erie Canal

Well we are on our way to the Erie Canal. Tom spotted this statue of an angel just sitting in the trees. There were no houses around it. While I was taking her picture I saw another crane, two for the price of one.

We watched these birds, Caspian Terns - they just drop into the water -
then swim / fly up - never saw them catch anything.

Posted by PicasaWe have stopped for the night at Ess & Kay Marina in Brewerton NY
The community is sited near the former Fort Brewerton, erected in 1759 to defend the passage from Albany to the port of Oswego. Settlers arrived in 1789 to engage in the fur trade. The Fort Brewerton Block House Museum[1] contains local relics dating back to Paleo-Indian times. It is located next to the original fort.
