Storm Day West Barrier Bar, Fair Point Marina - NY 8-17

Well it is Friday and our mast was suppose to come down. Tom worked hard yesterday to get us ready for the procedure. A weather front moved in last night, wind picked up and dark gray clouds blanketed the sky blocking the stars and setting our boat to rocking. All would not have been to bad for sleeping except that our spring line took to creaking and rubbing at irregular intervals. It was annoying to say the least.
The wind is still picking up and all agreed  that trying to pull a 60' mast would not be a good idea. I took a walk out to the rock beach and found another rock I could not live with out and took pictures of several I left behind.
The sound of the waves is interesting here. There is a Pop and Clack sound under the water rushing sound, rocks moving forward wearing away trying to reach land. The Water is a turbid brown green color topped by gray white foam. Everywhere you see a tan grayish brown slug film left behind to dry in sheets like paper wasp nests.
The buzzards were playing in the wind, I watched one hover over a tree balancing the wind under its wings to stay in one place. Two others swooped around it trying to break its concentration, eventually getting board and leaving it to what ever it was trying to do. Odd birds to watch.

Ta Ta for now.
