Staten Island Ferry to New York - our first visit

Tom and I got up early Wednesday morning - Picked up Josh and headed for the Staten Island ferry. The ferry is free - the terminal on the Staten Island side is under construction but all in all the beginning of our adventure was great - also a lot of walking to get to where you sit down for a while to do a lot of walking again.

The Staten Island 9/11 Memorial is located along the North Shore Waterfront Esplanade adjacent to the Staten Island Ferry Terminal and the Richmond County Ballpark at St. George. The site provides panoramic views of New York Harbor, Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. Staten Island was one of the hardest hit communities on 9/11, losing more than 270 loved ones in the terrorist attacks on New York City that day. As a result, Staten Island needed its own memorial.
It is hard to believe but we had an armed escort to and from Manhattan.

the Staten island terminal has 2 large fish aquariums
