From Catskill to Anchorage outside of Kingston in Hudson River

We finally tossed dock lines around 9:45AM and with no wind we started to motor south. We were given several places where we can anchor out - saving some money for our stay in New York. The scenery is breathtaking and for the most part we had the river to our selves. We are on the move again folks.

PS. If you see a picture that you like - Please leave a comment. I am thinking about putting together a book but with so many to choose from it is hard. Appreciate all the feed back I can get.
Thanks.

When it was built in 1869, it replaced the earlier 1838 lighthouse. Its Coast Guard service was ended in 1954.[4] It is currently managed by the non-profit Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy which purchased the lighthouse in 1986 and has restored it. The conservancy manages the nature trail leading to the lighthouse, offers two bed and breakfast rooms and public tours. A small museum displays artifacts of the original lighthouse and the restoration efforts, as well as the history of the Saugerties waterfront.
The lighthouse keeper of 1835 was Abraham Persons. He was paid $350 for the year.[5]
The US Coast Guard has identified Saugerties Light as one of its Historic Light Stations in New York.[6][7]
Saugerties Light is shown on the NOAA Chart 12347.[8]

  • The official name in the Coast Guard Light List is Rondout Creek Leading Light.[1]
  • The National Register name, Kingston/Rondout 2 Lighthouse comes from its location in a series of day beacons and lights in Rondout Creek. Number 2 is the first on the right hand side.[1]
