Made it to Key Biscayne... Hot, sweaty, tired but here

August 12th, Crandon Park Marina, Key Biscayne ...
Have I mentioned it is HOT.
Well for some interesting news. We left Marathon after an ardent Lobster Pot boat sped up behind us and dropped a lobster buoy- pot about twenty-five feet off our aft and sped away. It seemed like a dog marking its territory, not that a S/V looks remotely like a fishing vessel. We made our get away with a brisk  wind and we were able to sail most of the day.. Unfortunately we did run afoul with a lobster trap. Tom cut the main line and later we had to pull up while he took a dive and cut the rest off the prop shaft. This boat does not have cutters, something to think about the next time we pull her out. The season is from August to March so they will be around for a while. Good news, no damage to our boat.
We stopped over night off Taviener Key,enjoyed the full moon and a lightening display to the west. It was a much quieter night than in Marathon, but still hot.. Tom wandered around all night trying to find a comfortable, non insect, space to sleep... not very much luck.

Monday... no wind to speak of so we motored - our goal No name Harbor.
Wellllll...... we hit a sand bar just at the entrance and waited for Tow Boat US to come and pull us off. This is a shallow bay and just a little one way or another can land you on the bottom. We stayed the night anchored out again, deciding enough was enough and we were going to go in for a couple of days. Tom wants to have someone come out and change the fuel filters and impellers on both engine and genset.

Things I wish we had, some hatch wind socks. Trying to run the AC with just genset is not real efficient. I laughed about it before but an ice maker would be nice. We need to put in a few more 12 volt plugs, one for our portable freezer and one just to charge phones and tablets. Tom also wants to get someone to look at the rigging, but that might wait until get get to Fort Lauderdale.

right now I am watching the Temperature gauge on the AC go down.It started at 89 degrees in here and it is 83 now ... it is physiological I know, but when it gets to the 70's I will finally feel cooler.
