December 15th - Fog- leaving Cocoa Fl.

On Friday we had a great visit with Tom's Uncle Bill Dempsey. It was great to have him aboard Cool Hand. We stowed gear, filled the water tanks, and in general got ready to leave bright and early on Saturday Morning.
We roused our selves from our slumber to find FOG.
Few facts about fog, it forms when the difference between temperature and dew point is generally less than 4 degrees F. Fog Likes its slightly elevated cousin Stratus is a stable cloud deck which tends to form when a cool, stable air mass is trapped underneath a warm air mass. Fog normally occurs at a relative humidity near 100% .  What ever it takes to create Fog we had all the ingredients at Cocoa. We could not see the Channel markers let alone the massive bridge. So we waited, and waited, and waited ----- around 10 there was a break and we could see the channel markers and pieces of the bridge. We decided that we needed to start out regardless and would make a short day of it.
We stopped just south of the Melbourne Causeway Highway Bridge, set anchor and enjoyed the relative calm. I made some hamburger goulash and of course made enough to feed an army so sent some with Dale when he came to take Tom for a dingy ride to get fuel.
Only 17 NM, but it is a start.
