Naples Botanical Garden

Tom and I decided to take a road trip to Naples today. There was a threat of rain and the temps. soared to close to 90 while we walked the over 2 miles of trails through the gardens. Thank goodness there was a strong wind to help cool us off.

The Naples Botanical Garden is a wonderful venue of Cultivated tropical gardens, restored natural habitats, sculpture, and children' learning garden

In addition to six gardens, the garden models the natural world of the Everglades ecosystem. There is the Mary and Stephen B. Smith river of Grass a filtered marsh that improves the water quality by slowing down run off and absorbing contaminants, preserving the wetlands.  There is a Florida Uplands preserve providing a sanctuary for hundreds of species of plants and animals.

The Garden is also developing a therapeutic horticulture (TH) program (also known as horticulture therapy) focused on The Buehler Family Foundation Enabling Garden. TH is a widely recognized treatment modality for individuals with special needs. It uses plant and garden-based activities to improve people's physical and mental health. Our programs to date have focused on serving people with visual challenges and children with autism. All of one's senses come alive in this garden. It demonstrates many strategies that allow us to garden even if one has physical challenges.
Below are Photographs the visits that you walk through. This is just
