Grand Forks, Kelly Slough wildlife refuge, Wednesday 11/23

This is sunset from Jennies apartment, Tuesday night. Wednesday Tom and I went and had breakfast at Perkins then drove to the Kelly Slough national wildlife Refuge. No birds this time of year, but some geese flew over looking for open water. In the summer I can understand the influx of birds, there are dozens of small  tussocks and lots of flowing water. There is an endlessness to the horizon. The wind was crisp, cold, brighten your cheeks, dry air. The right temp for an ice cold drink. The sun was shining hot through the wind shield but as you can see  by the wonderful ice shelf the temp  in the shade is below freezing.

there is an upper and lower river system that a series of dams
helps to regulate.

Its a moose - seems the only moose I will ever see are statues and
stuffed ones. We stopped at Cabala's to look around.

Red River

Out of order but this was the ice shelf at Kelly's slough - looks
like a birds wing :)
