First day out, Galveston Bay

December 28th, 2013..... back on the water and moving east.

Total Distance: 22.4 nm
Notes: From Waterford to anchor
Date Created: Dec 28, 2013, 10:17 AMWe have had a wonderful six month stay at the Waterford Harbor Marina. We can not sing our praises loud enough to the staff and this facility. This is the place to stay in Galveston.....!!!
Thank you Henry, Kim ...
We made some new friends who tossed lines and sent us on our way. Thank you Tom and Joy, I know you will be following in our wind and waves soon. I will miss Diane and Paul, Diane is a another yarn enthusiasts, and Brad for the great pictures and sage advice. I know we will see all of you on the great blue (sometimes brown, green, yucky)waterway.
While in Kemah we put in a new Stove, AIS, new dingy and chaps, antenna, TV and Blue Ray player, had sunshades made, new dock lines, and many small repairs.

This morning Tom made one last run to West Marine for Joker valves for our Toilet, then we started up the engine..... well we tried and both of us had the panic deer look. Finally figured out small, tiny glitch and we cast off lines and started out.
It is cold... and there was a part of me that really wanted to be back in the marina with the heaters on. We made the ship channel with only a small hitch and by 2:30 dropped anchor just inside the mouth of the bay. Tomorrow we will start out bright and early and hit the Gulf.
By the way new stove got a work out... made lasagna for dinner to help heat up the boat. Then a beautiful sunset.

and of course now the anchor alarm is going off. well that is the sailing life for us.
we are off and on our way

Tom bringing in our Electrical cord
Tom and Diane handing off lines

leaving Sea Casa safe in port
Bubba Gumps Shrimp where we spent the 4th of July
Kemah Boardwalk

Just when I was questioning why we were out and off again
I saw the Porpoise swimming in the bow wakes of the ships and
got this great shot
a beautiful sunset for our first night out.
