From anchor to dock reaching Occoquan Basin - Potomac River 10/12

Friday brought bright blue skies 47 degrees and calm winds, though the forecast said they would pick up around 11 pm.  If you look close at the first picture (click and you can make it larger) you can see the thin strands of spider silk. We lost track off all our eight legged friends and apparently they have climb high into the rigging. We saw dozens of strands shimmering in the sunlight.  While getting ready to raise anchor we witness a struggle between a hawk and a small gull, the hawk relentless diving at the bird and the gull escaping just by a hair. They flew out of sight so we don't know what the outcome was. There was heavy mist on land that creeped off of shore, but off we went. Our trip was uneventful until we reach the Occoquan Basin which is very shallow. We strayed from the channel and could feel Cool Hand grazing the bottom. Tom worked at getting us back on track and with the help of the Dock Master in 15 kts winds we soon had the power on and the heater running.
Dawn came out and I can drive again - new drivers license - and we did some shopping with dinner at
Dixie Bones - great barbecue and pie.  On Saturday we woke to 37 degrees - have to move south fast.
