It was finally warming up around 11 am - I actually took socks and shoes off and rolled up my pants, enjoying the sun. Tom kept on spotting the porpoise and I kept on missing them. The big insult came when I went below to make us hot chocolate and he is giggling top side because they are all around us. I finally did get me chance just south of New River Inlet and the Chadwick Bay. mile 248. We were passing Alligator Bay and could not miss a bright pink house with blue trim. Up to this point we really did not see any depths below 9' so we were cooking right along until .... you got it a bridge back up. The Surf City Highway Bridge, Single Pivot - vertical clearance 12' only opens on the hour - so we had to putz- and futzing in a sailboat is not easy. We found out that next to the red crab pot float there is less than 4 1/2' of water, but Tom backed us out of the mud/sand. Then about 25' up and to the left of the same spot - you got is less than 4 1/2'. We were lucky and backed out of that one also.
Speaking of backing out - TOM FIXED IT. - one cotter pin and adjusting a cable and we can back up with the best of them. No more Clunk.
We finally made it to our safe berth for the night Harbor Beach Marina, outside of Hampstead NC. there is close to a mile walk to the rest rooms and showers but all in all this is nice though pricey.
A pink lighthouse!! How different. I am glad you are warm. It was in the 20's here overnight and warming up to about 50. Eek, happened to quickly.
