From Belhaven to Riverdune Marina, NC

Tom and I woke early 6:30 still dark out, so made eggs and sausage, and shivered at the 38 degree temps. I could see my breath - need to move south faster.  We bid fair well to Les, he was up and helped us cast off lines. The sky was clear with only a few high wispy clouds and a moon still bright shining on us. We were soon in a long line of sail and power boats rushing to get south. To day was a good day to move, only small chop and hardly any wind - no sailing but at this point we want to cover miles going south. Our marina was at ICW mile 137.6 and our destination is at mile 177. When we had sun shining in the cock pit, it was really quite pleasant, in the shade , just a little to cool. I made hot chocolate for Tom and coffee for me to keep the chill at bay.
Our route took us into Goose Creek and Bay River then through what is call here a land cut - between two rivers. We passed the Hobucken Coast Guard Station and the R.E. Mayo Company and a fleet of shrimp boats.  The boats were starting to stack up - Oriental NC is a prime stopping place - especially for sail boaters  We opted to stop at River Dunes which is just shy of Oriental - the facility is beyond our expectation. It is like staying at a 5 star hotel, only its a marina.  Weather is getting iffy again - we will be here tomorrow at least and maybe longer. Morehead NC would be our next stop but they charge $2. per foot and if we have to wait out bad weather we might as well stay here for a $1 a foot and great amenities.
