Friday January 4th we moved - not very far but some important steps in our journey. We sadly did not get to spend much time with Terry and Suzanne - they stopped over night at Las Olas and were gone before we got up the next morning. They were headed down the ICW to Marathon and after our visit there we can understand their hurry. We wish them fair winds and a following sea.
We are also leaving Dale, Patty and Oliver - again we hope that in the near future we will meet up with them again.
Our trip tuckered me out and I have been battling allergies and head aches - Friday was busy, we laid in the last of our supplies (extra Coke Zero) and then decided to leave - get fuel and anchor out at Lake Sylvia. Las Olas was getting a little pricey and when we make the break for the Atlantic we want to leave pre-dawn so anchoring was the best solution.
Weather - we need southerly/ easterly winds preferred. Anything starting with an N (north) puts the Kibosh on the trip. Battling the Gulf stream going north with northerly winds just is not worth it.
So far we have not had the right direction or enough - BUT - we think Sunday will do the trick.
The trip is approximately 69 NM as the crow flies - so if we can maintain 6 knots we can make it in about 12 hours - Arriving in the dark in a new port and new country - well it is a daunting task.
We have decided that regardless we will start for some where on Sunday, if not the Bahamas then we will head for the Keys.
That is the scoop - except for traffic here - it took 3 hours to make those 3 miles. The power boats are everywhere in every size and shape - they seem to be sail boat blind.
We will post where we go -
