Sticking snow- Saturday 12/17

Woke this morning to find all my fall leaves covered with snow. Winter begins and now we look a little more like the Christmas season. I do need to get a warmer hat for my walks on the beach - didn't go as far as I wanted to because ears got cold.
I love this old stump - this soft dusting of snow
just added to its character

Early Morning reflections

Went out just after sunrise. The clouds all had a rosy under glow and I caught the refection in a pond area close to our home. I was fascinated with the frost, most of our snow has melted but fallen leaves look beautiful in a coat of sparkling frost.

This just has so much character.

Gulls at Lake Michigan

Went to beach off Pere Marquette at Lake Michigan. You could see the snow clouds gathering, the wind was picking up so I didn't walk to far out on the beach. The Gulls would periodically take off circle and land in almost the exact spot. An interesting site.

There was a one legged Gull at the beach. He would stand close to the
other Gulls and valiantly tried to hold his own
against the waves.

Grand Haven - COLD

Decided to go and visit the lake - wrapped in my new knit scarf - remembered my gloves - and off I went. Wind about 30 kts plus and waves around 5 to 8 ft - sky was a strange mixture of patches of blue - orange gold sunset and gray swirling clouds. Only a few gulls and they were in the air. A few die hard fishermen on the pier but no other beach walkers.

the wind was making some interesting sand sculptures

I have no idea why the Coast Guard tried to go out

they turned around and came very close to the break water -
It looked like a very bumpy ride.

Harker Heights with Gene and Debra

Hello - well we spent three rainy days in Texas and as you can see by this lake water levels are way down and they needed the rain.

boat left high and dry - Tom and Gene

The seasons look a little off here, green in the fields, rose bushes in
full bloom, you would think it was spring.

went to a Christmas craft fair and saw this sitting up in a tree
