Renting a Car and exploring Grand Bahama

Saturday 2/28
What a way to end a month. We rented a car, driving on the left side of the road, and decided to explore. It was recommend that we go to Port Lucaya Marketplace and National park.
The marketplace is a 12 acre beachfront complex just outside of Freeport. There are small stalls selling local crafts, tee shirts and duty free shops with jewelry and perfume, designer bags. We at lunch there, I got fried conch and Tom Fish and chips. Each got a shirt and I started my stash of goodies for my Granddaughter and others.
Next stop Lucayan National Park.. There are caverns there that you can scuba dive in with a trained guide, not much to see otherwise. There is the Gold Rock Beach that was picturesque but sadly no shells. There is a walk way to meander through mangroves to the beach and back.
Back in the car we stopped and got Mount Gay Rum and headed back to the boat. There was considerable discussion on leaving Sunday vs Monday. I thought the waves would still have considerable impact as the wind was taking its time falling back. Two S/V left, one to return to the states and one heading for Abacos
Two others and ourselves decided to stay until Monday.. Two days to Spanish Cay and joining Joy and Tom Merritt.

Another day in paradise
