December 30th to the New Year WOW

January 2nd 2014
Right now we are on the hook in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the Louisiana Coast the closest city is Grand Chenier. There is a cold front coming through with winds 25 knts + from the north, the good thing is no rain, bad that the waves are 3' and getting higher. Good new this is a one day front and we can start moving east again.
The wind has picked up 33 knts and we are pitching and rolling. We are discovering all the loose articles that can be shaken loose from what we thought were secure places. This will be over (we hope by 9pm tonight.

To our friends and family all is well but we want warmer weather.  Next port of call will be in two days at Pirates Cove Marina on Grand Isle, Louisiana
We do not have central heat in our boat and I pulled out my
trusty hot water bottle. Everything is about conserving energy and
we did not want to run the Generator all night. My little lamb
kept her heat all night and made the 40 degree temps bearable.
between Sabine Lake and Calcasseu Lake  December 30th
Little jog is where we sited school of Porpoise

Sunday was a bright sunny day and about 55 degrees. We threaded
our way through the channel avoiding all the ships and barges and finally
out into the Gulf of Mexico. No wind but we made 40 NM the first day
Leaving Galveston.

breakfast first day out
I have been wanting a swift and yarn ball winder. Thanks to Jennie
I received on for Christmas and where there is a will there is a way.
No more tangled goo messes of yarn ( I hope)

love the different oil rig configurations out here and listening to
the crew boat chatter.
I know for our friends and family up north complaining about the cold
seems odd... but it has been cold for us and remember no central heating.
Even I wear a hat.

setting the anchor can be a little daunting, but we like our new one and it
has been holding us under some very strenuous conditions
We anchored her December 30th and 31st.
It was very cold and spitting rain. we decided to stay inside
and warm New Years Eve off  Caslcasieu ship channel
