We are home - tied to the mooring - but we will be off on another adventure soon.

Ludington to White Lake

We stayed a couple of days at Ludington Municipal marina. We left Thursday morning for White Lake. Winds were lite and of course not in the direction that would make sailing an option. We did try and motor sailed most of the way.

Fisherman in the entrance, middle of the channel to White lake made our entrance an interesting experience. I think it is amazing how many men think the only fish they can catch is swimming where  other boats, larger boats, sail boats have to travel. They seem shocked that we would want to use the same water way.  Friday we head for home.

Monday Frankfort to Manistee -

Hello -
We left Frankfort this morning around 8 am - there was fog in the marina but the hot sun burned it off quickly. We followed the fishermen out of the harbor and out into the lake. There were very lite winds and no waves. Valiantly we raised out sails and shut off the motor - we sail at 2 to 3 kts until around 2pm them gave in, brought the sails down and then turned on the motor. All in all it wasn't a bad day for harbor hopping.

The water was so still, the reflections from the dock created a neat effect.

Around 5:30 we finally hand the Manistee Light house and safe harbor in our sites

The municipal Marnia is next to a park, well maintained and we were soon secured to the dock.

Frankfort, Visit with Pat and Howard

My sister Pat and her husband Howard came over to see us in Frankfort. After a visit and lunch the weather let up and we took them out for a sail, one hour out and back again. They got a little wet, but all in all we had a great time.

It was great to see them and a nice sail.

Tomorrow we are off to Manistee. 

Tuesday - went to Boyne City and hunkered down

Tuesday and wednesday were rough weather days. We sailed part of the way from Harbor springs butr with wind gust and waves finally turned in and sought shelter in Lake Charlevoix.

Sorry there are no pictures from Thursday. We started out sailing but wind right on the nose along with the waves that steadily grew in size. Around 3pm we brought the sails down and motor.

This was our first all night sail - yes we left Boyne at 8am and arrive in Frankford at 11:00 am Friday.  I think that Tom got about 3 hrs of sleep and I got about 3 hrs.   Our adventure continues - but I think we are going to stop in Muskegon for a few days.
